A flutter of The Wild Swans + a bit of Beauty and the Beast =
the transformative tale that launches a land
’s legacy…

Picture
“There is only one lake where the curse can end: The one beside the place of my birth.”
Sula pointed to the lake glistening behind him.
“Is that it?”
“No.”
“Then what are you doing hanging around here, night after night?” Sula demanded. “Do you not want your curse broken?”
“Of course I do. But it’s not enough to simply be in the right place.”
“Well, what else do you have to do?”
“It’s not what I have to do.”
Of course, Sula thought. When it came to undoing enchantments, everyone knew, it almost always took at least two.
“Someone else,” Sigmund finished, “would have to treat me like royalty.”
Sula’s nose wrinkled in distaste. “Treat you like royalty? Why should anybody have to do that?”
Unless…, a thought began to form, and she looked at the figure before her with new eyes. His singular grace… His aloof manner… The uncommon air about him… Was it possible…?
“Sigmund,” Sula said slowly. “You’re not a prince, are you?”

Catching her leg in a bear trap proves the least
of Sula’s worries. Haunted by an enchanted monster from
a past she dare not reveal, and hounded by the perilously perceptive young village doctor, Villem Deere, the headstrong girl of the woods gambles with fate by binding hers to that of Sigmund, the captivating orphan boy with mysterious
nightly business of his own.

An enchantress’s curse turns a spoiled royal into a beast; a princess’s pricked finger places her under a hundred-year spell; bales of straw are spun as golden as the singing harp whisked down a giant beanstalk – all within sight of Wilderhark, the forest that’s seen it all.

You’ve heard the stories – of young men scaling rope-like braids to assist the tower-bound damsel; of gorgeous gowns appearing just in time for a midnight ball; of frog princes, and swan princes, and princes saved from drowning by maidens of the sea.

Tales of magic. Tales of adventure. Most of all, tales of true love.

Once upon a time, you knew them as fairytales. Know them now as Wilderhark’s.

Quoth the readers:

"A great reason to get excited over good, old-fashioned storytelling"
     - Eric Wilder, GrimmReport.com

"A beautifully-crafted tale"
     - Emerald Barnes, author of Entertaining Angels

"A swift read with a captivating cast ... Shipley writes with a witty voice, twining traditional beauty and modern storytelling as intimately as the enchanted destinies in her masterful debut novella"
     - Tirzah Duncan, author of
Cry of the Nightbird

"Danielle’s writing is beautiful — it has the sense of age with it, like this fairy tale has already been told thousands and thousands of times already and is already near and dear to so many people’s hearts. Each plot point, each twist, each word is carefully thought out and strategically placed and yet everything just flows together so lovely, lyrically, and naturally. I honestly felt like I was reading an old fairy tale that’s been in existence for years and years already. It was quite a pleasure to read!"
